Acadia Photo Workshop 2025… Twice is Nice

In October 2025, I led two workshops in Acadia National Park (Maine) back to back. The first one was for the North American Nature Photographer’s Association (NANPA)- my first time leading a group for them. This was a relatively short workshop- just 2-1/2 days, but we packed in the excursions, hitting sixteen different spots from Friday morning until Sunday morning. It was a great group and a pleasure to be with them. The photographers came from Colorado, Wisconsin, Texas and Maryland.

Then for my own Images of Acadia workshop, I had a smaller group than normal due to a couple health issues before the workshop started. But the smaller size only made it easier to get to know each other well and I think this might have been the ‘tightest’ group I’ve ever had. I had one returnee from the 2022 workshop, John from Toronto. The others were from Texas, Virginia and North Carolina. All together, we did twenty excursions over the 4-1/2 days we were together.

I took both groups to one of my favorite sunset locations, Bass Harbor Marsh, and both times we were fortunate to experience some stunning sunsets- beautiful pink and orange clouds and skies, which made the long drive over to the ‘quiet side’ of the island all worth it. But one thing made me laugh; every time I took a group to Otter Point, there would be a bride and groom either having some pictures taken or actually getting married as we were taking pictures. I think we saw four or five couples all together.

The 2026 Images of Acadia workshop will likely take place October 13-18th, I’ll have details soon after I hear from then hotel and work out the schedule. If you’d like to be one of the first to know when registration opens up, email me to be put on the ‘VIP’ list.
