Kentucky Spring

I had plans to travel to Europe last week, but due to a canceled flight, my plans were all thwarted. I needed a Plan B. And that’s where Kentucky came through. It’s only a 6-1/2 hour drive for me (I like road trips, so that’s quite do-able in my books), so we packed our bags and headed south.

The weather didn’t cooperate too well, but I had one evening and one early morning when conditions were perfect for drone flights. With the new drone I got last autumn, I now have three cameras to choose from– a wide angle and two telephoto– so the possibilities have opened up for me. Most of the images here were taken with either the short (70mm) or the long lenses (166mm), thereby compressing the trees and flattening out the images.

What most caught my eye was how colorful the trees were; I really didn’t expect that. Not many trees had buds on them yet and were still dormant; there wasn’t a lot of greenery around. But there were a lot of autumnal colors to be found. I was amazed at all the reds, yellows and oranges to be found. The images look much more like late October than late March.
