Until recently, colour prints were very hard to print, and very costly. Traditional Cibachromes, printed from colour transparencies (slides) last forever, but were very hard to print with a good tonal range, usually producing dark shadows and blown out highlights. Recent technology has closed the gap however, although a well made fibre print from an original negative still holds the edge over digital. My colour prints come from a color corrected, high resolution digital file, which is sent to a professional lab and shipped back to me for mounting and matting before being shipped to the customer.
